This mornings jaunt...

Happy bunny this morning, managed to keep a nice pace and feel really good...I'll get there in the end!

This run was done wearing one of my new pairs of trail shoes and it was like running with pillows on my feet...!

Just as I thought...

Well this isn't really a shock to me, the only shock is I thought I was heavier! It has give me a shake and made me say to myself 'sort it out' so the diet has been tightened even more, if it's one thing I always struggle with its the diet/nutrition side of things, if I can get down to around 16st I'll be happy, tbh any weight loss is going to make me happier than I am atm...😉

New kit...

A big motivational tool for me is acquiring new kit, in this case 2 pairs of Karrimor D30 excel. Not the latest Salomon's or Hoka's but initial impressions are they look the part and fit snugly, tread pattern is nice and wide for mud clearance and grip on trails.

Obviously I can't give a full review just yet but will try after 50 or so miles...

Not so easy...

Out for a scheduled run yesterday and can safely say it was the hardest one I've done so far, not in terms of distance I just found it really hard to find a good pace and maintain it. The first 8 min run went by quite quick and a solid pace was achievable, the second 8 min run was a completely different beast altogether, lower leg pain and difficulty finding a steady pace lead to me walking for most of the interval much to my utter dismay.

Thankfully, for the last interval, I managed to fulfil the 8 mins by telling myself it's 'X' minutes of my life, the time then seemed insignificant and soon passed, I didn't quite manage the 5k goal I was hoping for but I've got a solid foundation on which to build...

Today's trail run

Todays run was at Castle Eden Walkway a short drive from my home, it was hard going and I struggled with a couple of the run intervals and ended up walking, not due to loss of breath, it was due to lower leg pain (shin splints). I'm in a catch 22, I need to lose weight so I don't suffer so much from the extra lb's I'm carrying...but I need to exercise to speed up the process, sometimes I feel I can't win...!

Anyway, apart from that I really enjoyed this run, that feeling of being outdoors is a great stress reliever for me, a bit like a reset button! I always feel at home when I'm outdoors whether its running, walking or on my MTB (which I haven't done for a long time!).

Taking a break, not far now!

Hi,

My names Denny I'm 40 yrs old and I've decided that I seriously need to get into shape. After years of dodging running (I preffered MTB to stay on top of my fitness) I took the plunge in the back end of February 2016. I purchased a Forerunner 225 to track my runs and started a Couch to 10K program, I'm just at the end of week 5 out of 12 and I'm really enjoying it. My goal is to finish the Ullswater 10K Trail run in November which I have entered and paid for...!

It's a big task for me as I ain't no lightweight and my general fitness is poor at best but I will get to the start line with the aim being just to set a time. I'll post whatever I can on here and it will be a warts and all account of myself going from fat to hopefully fit...!!
